For participants, organizers and guests XXI International Film Festival marine and adventure films "The Sea Calls!"

Dear friends!

I am glad to welcome you to the XXI International Film Festival of Maritime and Adventure Films "The Sea Calls!".

Born on the banks of the Neva, the film forum has taken its rightful place in the rich cultural life of St. Petersburg. The number of its participants and submitted works is steadily growing every year.

Competitive films arouse young people's interest in maritime professions and call them on long journeys. They draw attention to common problems for the inhabitants of the whole planet. Global warming, pollution of the oceans, destruction of ecosystems, the need for rational use of water resources - these and other key issues must be addressed together, taking care of the well-being of future generations.

The film festival takes place in the year of the 320th anniversary of St. Petersburg and the 80th anniversary of the breaking of the siege of Leningrad. Its anniversary program confirms the status of our city as the sea capital of Russia.

I am sure that the film festival will become a real holiday for Petersburgers and guests of the city, it will open up new horizons for art and the diverse world.

I wish you all bright and unforgettable impressions, interesting meetings and further creative success!

Governor of St. Petersburg                                                    Beglov Alexander Dmitrievich

Dear friends!
Dear guests and participants of the film festival!

I sincerely congratulate everyone on the opening of the anniversary XXI International Film Festival of Marine and Adventure Films "The Sea Calls!", traditionally held with the support of the Maritime Council under the Government of St. Petersburg!
Many residents and guests of the northern capital are somehow connected with the sea, and the film festival has become a beacon for them in the ocean of documentary films. We are grateful to the organizers of the film festival for their painstaking work in order to introduce the audience to new works in the field of maritime documentary filmmaking.
In 2024, the film festival is dedicated to many significant dates, among which are the 320th anniversary of the founding of our beloved city of St. Petersburg, the sea capital of Russia, the 320th anniversary of the founding of the Baltic Fleet, the 220th anniversary of the birth of the Russian naval commander Admiral PS Nakhimov.
A lot of the film festival's works, which tell about modern problems, are addressed to our wonderful youth. It is the young people who have to solve these problems that personify the future of Russia. And young people, as before, remain the main audience of the film festival "The Sea Calls!".
I would like to wish the participants and spectators  creative inspiration, interesting meetings, unforgettable impressions and wonderful emotions.
Fair winds to all and seven feet under the keel in the vastness of documentaries!

Dear participants and viewers of the XXI International Film Festival of Marine and Adventure Films

"The Sea Calls!"

For two decades, the film festival "The Sea Calls!" has been held in the Sea Capital of Russia. Not a single film forum was deprived of significant dates in the maritime history of Russia, and this year was no exception.
This year the film festival is dedicated to several anniversaries at once: the 320th anniversary of the Baltic Fleet, the 290th anniversary of the Northern Fleet, the 240th anniversary of the Black Sea Fleet, the 260th anniversary of the birth of naval commander Admiral Dmitry Nikolayevich Senyavin.

Since the times of Peter the Great, warships and civil ships have been built in St. Petersburg, the sea capital of Russia. For three centuries, the naval military educational institutions of the Navy have been training officer cadres, who at all times have been the pride of Russia.

The main goal of the film festival, which has become the hallmark of St. Petersburg, is to position Russia as a great maritime power and St. Petersburg as its maritime capital, as well as popularize maritime professions and patriotic education of the younger generation on the glorious traditions of the Military -Navy.

I am sure that the film festival will continue to make a worthy contribution to the strengthening of Russia as a great maritime power, and its maritime capital - St. Petersburg.
I congratulate you on the opening of the anniversary film forum and wish the participants, organizers and guests of the film festival bright impressions, memorable meetings and success in their work!

Dear friends!

Please accept congratulations on the opening of the XXI film festival of marine and adventure films “The Sea Calls!” For more than twenty years, this international forum has opened its doors to filmmakers and audiences; More than half of this journey “Gazpromneft Marine Bunker” accompanies the film festival as part of the “Native Towns” social investment program.

Each season of the “The Sea Calls!” forum brings new discoveries, impressions and knowledge to those who come to its sites. At festival shows, schoolchildren, cadets, and students get the opportunity to look beyond the horizon of time and get acquainted with the experience of experienced sailors.

But sea adventures are only one of the themes of the film festival. Heroic pages of Russian history and environmental issues occupy a significant part of the program. That is why my colleagues have also been guests of the film festival of marine and adventure films “The Sea Calls!” for many years; they are happy to discover the world of marine, environmental and historical documentaries, each time feeling proud of their compatriots: ancestors and contemporaries.

And this year, we traditionally wish the forum participants fruitful work, creative success, well-deserved awards, and positive emotions to the audience.
